This is the first Call for Papers for the Marinas 2011 International Conference and Exhibition which will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Wharf, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 20 - 22 June 2011. The theme is Marinas 2011: New Horizons. While the deadline for call for papers is Friday 20 November 2011 we encourage you to submit your interest in presenting at Marinas 2011 as soon as possible as presentation places are limited and demand is traditionally strong.

- Upland Boat Storage
- Managing Risk
- Marina Management Structures – commercial, club and strata
- New Techniques and New Technologies
- Maintenance Programs
- Social Media
- Accreditation for marinas
- Industry/Government Partnerships
- Lessons from the Global Financial Crisis
- Know your Customer
- Cooperative Marketing
In addition, do you have something of interest that doesn't fit the topics above?. This could be an interesting case study, implementation of new technology or successful marketing to the needs of marina users. Whatever it is, we would like to hear about it.
Speakers are encouraged from the a wide spectrum including the Marina Industries, Services including Marketing, Tourism, Events and Hospitality Industries; Finance and Investment Industries, relevant Government Agencies and the Vocational Education and Training sectors. Financial assistance will be available to a limited number of speakers on request.
Format for submission
The allotted duration for presentations varies from 15 to 45 minutes. Panel sessions are generally shorter while planetary generally longer. A mixture of plenary; panel and break-out sessions will be conducted. A formal paper is not required but we would expect to provide PowerPoint material from all presentations to all delegates.

Presentation Costs
The Organising Committee will consider assisting some speakers to offset costs in presenting at Marinas 2011. Traditionally the Committee has assisted some overseas keynote speakers with a contribution towards some or either of travel, accommodation and registration. Authors of papers who wish to apply for speaker support should clearly state this in their submission.
Background
The conference and exhibition is hosted by the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) every two years. Each event has grown significantly over the past and Marinas 2011 is expected to attract well over 400 delegates and over 50 exhibitors from around the world. Marinas 2011 is an opportunity for delegates to meet their peers, develop their personal knowledge, exchange observations and experiences, and to gain an understanding of future marina industries directions and developments.
